  3. GENERAL:
  4. --------
  5. D-BROWSE.EXE is made possible by Henrik Haftman's DOSLFN (or DOSLFNME) TSR
  6. which enables the use of Long File Names (LFN) in plain DOS. A DOS program
  7. can then use the INT 21H AX = 71xxH set of LFN interrupt services and display
  8. files and subdirectory paths in LFN form. The name D-BROWSE was chosen as
  9. short for "Hard disk FAT16/32 file information and subdirectory browser".
  10. As the program evolved, gradually some file modification features were added.
  11. The program now offers a multiple Tagged files Copy/Move capability, a hex
  12. viewer/editor, string scanner, file and folder finders, file and folder
  13. delete, file time stamp settings, file attributes setting, and a Help screen.
  14. Version 1.01 has a vastly changed and improved User Interface.

  16. Auxiliary files are included with the ZIP package download which enable
  17. the use of the program in plain DOS. A small utility named MAKEBOOT.EXE
  18. will create a special boot diskette on Windows 98 or ME. This boot disk
  19. will load the DOSLFNMS TSR into memory. It also loads a mouse driver and the
  20. XMSDSK RAM drive creation utility included with the package. System files
  21. from the Windows computer used to create the boot disk are also copied to
  22. the diskette and loaded at boot time.

  24. To create a boot disk, run MAKEBOOT.EXE in Windows, making sure the files
  25. in this package are in the same folder. The utility requires a formatted
  26. 1.44 meg diskette. It will erase any files on the disk, copy all required
  27. files, and then check that they all have been copied.
